Roy Williams was born and raised in New York where he completed both his General Surgery and Cardiothoracic surgical training at the State University of New York/Kings County Hospital program. This included an additional year of designated specialized thoracic surgical training. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery, the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Upon completion of his program in 1996, Dr. Williams came to South Florida and joined Dr. Lamelas in private practice. Today he is an integral part of the cardiothoracic surgical team at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach. He has more than a decade of experience in all aspects of adult cardiac acquired coronary, valvular and central vascular surgery. He has become a leading clinical practitioner in the specialty of Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery. Ranking amongst the nations leaders in advancing techniques of Video Assisted Thoracic Surgery (VATS), throughout the years he has acquired a wealth of clinical experience resulting in excellent patient outcomes. He has become a pioneer in utilizing minimally invasive techniques in aggressive early diagnosis and comprehensive treatment of lung cancer:
the world’s number one cancer killer. He is fluent in both English and Spanish.
